Biodata

My name is Leng Xiuwen and I am a twenty-year-old female currently in my second year of undergraduate studies in National University of Singapore (NUS), majoring in Statistics and Applied Probability. Being in the retail industry during my part time tenure has allowed me to develop a myriad of interpersonal skills that I believe I can draw upon in future. I have trained myself to be able to adapt quickly to different situations by constantly having to attend to different customers. As such, I believe that I have the diverse interpersonal skills that are essential in the working world, where one will get to meet and work with different kinds of people every day. Having a cheerful and outgoing personality has definitely helped me to build a wide network of connections which I can tap into when I enter the workforce. Furthermore, it can also help to develop good relationships in the workplace, which in turn translates to higher efficiency within a team. Serving as the president of Science Computer Based Learning Center has allowed me to develop my leadership abilities and trained myself to work effectively in a team. Hence, I am confident to perform and lead effectively in a team. It is without a doubt that entering the workforce will be a new challenge, but I believe that with these invaluable skills I have picked up along the way will help me to excel in the workforce.

Hello Xiuwen,

I believe with your happy-go-lucky and cheerful personality, you would be able to survive the future worklife with ease!

I really envy your attractive character that makes you very approachable. You often said that you want to be quiet. I think otherwise. Maybe we should trade part of our personalities with each other. Then, we would be perfect! LOL

Anyway, I believe your post as the President of CBLC and member of the sports com would be a plus point for you. Employers would tend to look out for people with outstanding achievements in their CCAs, not just results.

Dear Xiu Wen,

You are definitely a cheerful and outgoing girl! :D I agree that having good interpersonal skills definitely help in communicating with people and establishing networks. Being bright and cheery helps to engage people in conversations as people are drawn to those who have a smile on their face!

By the way, Tiffany has mentioned to me in her comment that she thinks that biodata should be written from a third person's point of view. :) I wonder if Brad has mentioned this in class.

Hi Xiu Wen,

I always wonder how people can be so happy everyday, any tips on that? That's because indeed you are one of them and you certainly bring a lot of laughter to people around you! Even when working with you in the project under tight schedule, you never forget to lighten up the atmosphere and make the tough process enjoyable. I believe this is certainly your plus point no matter where you head in future and employers will need people like you to lead their organisation and boost their employees' morales.

Stay cheerful and keep shining to brighten up peoples' lives!=D

Haha Eileen..

The key to being happy is simply to think positive! And smile! I believe Xiu Wen has her down days too, but the thing is, she rarely put on an unhappy face. You know, it's so easy to let your mood affect the mood of others around you. I guess she doesn't want that to happen! And you are right, I many people would love to work with Xiu Wen, because laughter is never amiss when she is around! haha!

Hi Pei Rong,

Thanks for the compliment and encouragement! Yes, if we could trade part of our personalities, we could probably become the ultimate combination! =)

Dear Joyce,

I also believe that good interpersonal skills enables one to communicate effectively with one another and it also allows ideas to flow freely and efficient between one another.

Hmm..probably I guess we have to ask Brad about the proper format of the biodata that is to write it from which person's point of view to double confirm. However so, thanks for the notice! =)

Hi Xiuwen,

From that time in class when I interviewed you, I could sense that even though the session was informal, you really did show confidence in the way you spoke! I was impressed. (Sorry for the mean behaviour by the way!) and WOW! I have to say, President of CBLC! (any underhand means to help me get my print jobs done quicker? LOL) That's definitely that edge that employers would be looking for.

I wish you all the best when finding a job and by the way, I'm please to inform you that you have been selected to be part of our Statistics organization in MINDEF. Is that how they phrase it? hahah! Cheers!

Hi Tiffany!

Yes, I was caught surprised when u said: "You are late!" the moment I entered the room. LoL In fact, it had set the mood for the interview which added onto my nervousness even though I may look far from being nervous! haha =P

But, thanks for the intensive grilling! And don't feel bad because I know eileen and you have to 'act' mean so as to scare me. However so, I've really learnt alot throught the interview! It was an enriching experience. =)

Yeah! I've got the internship! =) I wish you all the best in getting your ideal job as well!

Dear Xinyi and Eileen!

I have read both of your biodata and they were great! Short and to the point. It was a job well done as I could gather essential and sufficent knowlegde about your strengths and interests. If I was the employer looking for potentials employees, I would definitely be attracted by your biodatas!

Yes to what Xinyi had stated, the secret to being happy is to remember those happy moments and erase those unhappy ones. This is sort of like selective filtering and to stay positive!

Good luck to both of your in clinching your dream job or internship! =)
